One must understand the desire to eat Russian food. If you do not have a taste for it then maybe this place is not where you should eat. Improvements have been constant and right now is doing great with good food. I love the selection of packaged food from Russia. The stores next to also have outside seating so at times it does get crowded, a testimony to the nice location and popularity. My 7th time eating dinner here and I am never disappointed. The best dessert is the packaged Ukrainian cakes in the back cooler, I only remember finding them in Brooklyn but now they are here, the problem is if you buy one you will eat all of it!!! One note is that is is busy later on in the evening for it is cooler. Once again, it you are looking for good Russian/Ukrainian food then this is a very good place. I will return again and again.

Its a good place for a quick, inexpensive and relatively tasty snack. Relatively bis choise of russian food, I particularly liked kharcho soup, the salads were not very tasty... appositely, the coffee was for free... I would come again!

Great small market/deli. the most authentic russian food I have been able to find in South Florida so far. The prepared foods were excellent - fresh and tasty- especially the baby octopus salad. It is authentic home stye Russian food -- not Russian "style" -- so it may not appeal to all palates. The grocery items provided a great variety of cured meats, dairy, and dry goods. Everything was clean, affordable, and well presented. The buying of the food and navigating the food items we did not know was a little difficult, as the staff in the food prep areas spoke limited English and my Russian is non existent :) -- But they were extermely polite and made every attempt to be helpful. All in all we had a fun time trying some new foods that were rather tasty. My husband has already said that it is a definite "add to the list" place for stopping when in the area.

The customer service was fantastic. Every employee who saw me greeted me and asked me for assistance. Even the cashier who had a difficult time with a word in english was trying to help me. Little do they know, I do speak Russian ( dont look the part) but when I usually go to these Russian stores I usually get these nasty stares which make me feel uncomfortable and I usually dont go back :( The products were fresh and the price was very very very reasonable. I bought the soup and it was DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely go back there to shop and eat. The best part of the whole experience- I love the traditional Russian dress apparel. Very Authentic.

I love Matryoshka. The Food food served here is some of the closest to actual Russian cuisine I have had in the USA. They have a great selection of imported foods, candy, and the buffet is very good. Kalinka who?

There is a smoked fish counter I missed it! They have Pistachio nuts almost as good as Zaloom 5 stars which are illegal in this country! Also they bake their own bread which are reason alone to go! Pistachios have gone way down hill ...when they opened must have been private stash!

One of my favorite places to hang out, I go there to have some tea or maybe to have lunch there with my friends, very nice place, especially outside. Plus now my friend works there and she said that everything is fresh and totally safe to eat there. And stuff there are pretty nice also. It gets better little by little with every day.

We went to this deli to take a bite on something different. We were a bit skeptical because we didn't read up on it etc.To our surprise it was delicious, and I mean delicious! This is a Russian Deli that you weigh your food and the price is $6.99 per lbs before 8pm. We were not use to this kind of concept so it was a bit odd. We tried the red peppers stuffed with ground beef and pork.(Delicious and moist) Lamb meatballs(lovely with a hint of citrus) Rice with vegetables and beef ( To rave about) Chicken stuffed with mushrooms,Onions,Tomatoes and smothered with cheese ( Wow, will have my wife attempt to duplicate this - simply terrific ) This was a take a chance without any prior knowledge of this restaurant and we do not regret this at all. Lovely quaint place with nice people and very very helpful . An absolute revisit will be mapped out very soon.

The merchandise is either old, improperly transported or a lab experiment. I got a mouth full of mold when I realized my dessert was in fact a Petri dish of hairy turquoise custard. The bakery is decent. The cold service and "da fuq u want me to do about it. I'm not giving you a refund" attitude when I politely pulled a clerk aside to show him the rotten merchandise and fix my problem without letting other customers see the disgusting crap they peddle was just absurd. Not the only one apparently. Tons of people have this issue here... How do you get away with that?

I know nothing about Russian food, other that Bourch (beet soup). So when in "Little Russia", eat like a Russian. It is only a deli with 6 hot serve stations and a soup bar with Bourch. There are a few tables outside on the sidewalk. I sampled beef stroganoff, chicken in sauce, spiced beef, potatoes, and a pint of Bourch. Not great, but eatable. I don't think Russia is know for food beyond potatoes? But nothing ventured, no strange food enjoyed

I'm Russian and have cravings for my home food. But man am I tired of tossing the crab salads and Olivie aka potato salad it doesn't taste fresh . Every time I go it's just icky. I do stock up on their kefir and dairy but Hallandale international market is cheaper.

We love coming here. We literally will drive here from the Orlando area just to eat here. My kids beg to visit Matryoshka. We have taken Russian visitors here and they loved it, too. No great atmosphere, but it appears clean and it's quick and authentic. Wish there was something like this closer to us. We haven't really bought any of the products in the store other than the buffet, followed by coffee and dessert, but it has thus far been a memorable experience.

I came in yesterday to the store and I purchased couple of items. When I came home I realized I forgot one if the items. I called the same day to the store and let them know that I forgot the item and the lady on the phone was nice. She took my name and told me just come back and we will give you the same item. I came back the next day and the manager I believe by the name Oksana was rude. Oksana questioned me who did I speak to? What time? When did I purchase groceries? I answered to her that I didn't take the name of the person on the phone because she took my name. I did not take the receipt because I thought it was no problem to get a $3 dollar item. Plus I drove 15 miles to the store. Oksana said she cannot give me the item because she would be in trouble. I had to buy the same item and leave. I came to the store because I loved the food. I am from CA I have never experienced anything like that. I go to Shalom store in Los Angeles. Once I forgot the cake that was a lot more expensive. They saved the cake for me, and when I was back I had no problem receiving it. What kind of manager is Oksana? If she doesn't have an authority to deal with $3 dollars or to give back what belongs to a client.

It's clean and nice Russian store/restaurant, however - little overpriced (buffet food) and little too oily for my taste. I took some salads that were very expensive and oily, so my experience was not that good. However the store is big and they have huge selection of products from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Moldova, Romania, etc.

Overpriced little store with unappealing prepared food. If you've been to the nice stores in the Chicago suburbs and/or In Brighton Beach, you will be sorely disappointed. If not then maybe you'll shop there. Not worth the drive from Ft. Lauderdale for me.

Typical Russian style grocery store. Pretty clean with a lot of food on the shelves and refrigerators. They have a kitchen in the back and cook some tasty dishes. There is an espresso machine around the cashier. You could order a coffee and some deserts. We bought some food cooked at their kitchen. It was OK but nothing special . Desserts were very rich but that's it - almost tasteless. Still, it may be a good place to go for a quick bite and to buy some produce you could easily cook yourself in a rented condo while on vacation for a week or so. Or buy a salami to fix a sandwich.
